Twenty years after the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, the hopes for greater equality remained as relevant as ever. While the conference established a visionary framework for women’s rights, many issues—including the rights of sexual minorities and access to safe abortion—continue to be fiercely debated around the world.

Created in collaboration with Amnesty International’s My Body, My Rights campaign, this project highlights the everyday realities faced by women in India. Through intimate documentary photography, it explores themes of gender, dignity, autonomy and the struggle for equal rights.
