Amnesty India

For Amnesty International India, I documented the lives of sanitation workers who perform one of the country’s most dangerous and overlooked jobs. Despite legal prohibitions, many are still forced to enter sewers and manholes by hand, risking toxic gases, serious injury and death.

The project focuses on the people behind the profession—their working conditions, their families and the dignity they strive to preserve in the face of discrimination and neglect. Through their stories, the photographs shed light on the human cost of manual scavenging and the urgent need for safe working conditions and social justice.

Invisible Lives is a tribute to the courage and resilience of those whose essential work too often goes unseen.
