Culture Curry

Culture Curry is a collaborative storytelling project by German journalist Christina Franzisket and Indian documentary photographer Nagender Chhikara.

Together, we documented the social, cultural and human realities of India through long-form reportage, photography and multimedia storytelling. Combining journalism with documentary photography, our work explored stories that often remain unseen—stories of resilience, identity, inequality and everyday life in one of the world’s most diverse countries.
Our project examined violence against women in North India, changing family structures, religion, tradition and the rapid transformation of Indian society.

One of our most ambitious works, India and Love, explored how love is understood and experienced across India’s many cultures, religions and generations. Through photographs, interviews, film and audio, we sought to reveal the complexity and diversity of one of the most universal human experiences.
Our work has been exhibited internationally and published across a variety of media platforms. More importantly, it has sparked conversations about culture, identity and the shared experiences that connect people across borders.

Culture Curry reflects our commitment to thoughtful, in-depth storytelling—creating visual narratives that invite viewers to look beyond stereotypes and engage with people and cultures with empathy, openness and curiosity.
