Ganges

The Ganges is far more than a river—it is the spiritual and cultural backbone of India. This project follows its course from its Himalayan source to the vast delta where it meets the Bay of Bengal.

Along the way, I encountered pilgrims, priests, farmers, boatmen and families whose lives are intimately connected to the river. From remote mountain villages to the ancient ghats of Varanasi and the fertile plains of northern India, the journey reveals the many faces of a river that has shaped a civilization for millennia.

This project is a portrait of India through the stories, traditions and landscapes that flow alongside the Ganges.
